Find out the real reason you should be building muscle

I’ve been lifting weights for 10 years and don’t look like Arnold Schwarzenegger. When we hear people say ” I don’t want to get get too big” – we have to promise all the time they won’t and explain that its fat that’s making them bigger.

So why should everyone focus on building muscle?

First of all I should point out that we all have a genetic amount of muscle we will put on, not much over 5lbs for females and 10lbs for males. Your body will not want to add any more as it believes it not necessary for survival. It takes extreme lengths to add more muscle.

Secondly adding muscle to your frame is metabolically expensive, meaning you will get leaner and burn more body fat. It lowers your body’s fat set point.

The more muscle you have, the more you can eat without much repercussions, people who have been lifting for years will know this little secret where they can get away with a weekend of bad food and booze yet still make progress with fat loss.

Building muscle isn’t just for “bodybuilders” it’s for everyone wanting a healthier, stronger, leaner body.
