Some people want something sweet, some people want savoury.
Either way you want extra food – this is just human nature. Sometimes it can be related to emotional eating but usually just down to your bodies survival mechanisms.
We did answer a question about sweet cravings on our Facebook Q&A (well worth a 20 min watch) but I thought I would go a little further.
Cravings are always going to be a factor when dieting and trying to lose body fat.
Everyone has these cravings, mainly due to the fact you are in a caloric deficit and your body wants extra energy.
It’s how your control and react to these cravings that dictate how your body will look and how you feel.
Here is what successful lean people do to control cravings:
Have small more frequent meals – it’s a myth smaller meals burn body fat. However, If you’re eating smaller meals every 2-3 hours, you are less likely to snack as you feel full. Snacking is usually where the extra calories are hidden. Lean protein & vegetables 4 or 5 times a day, add carbs to the meal after you have exercised.
Brushing your teeth, chew gum, using mouthwash – ever want to eat after doing brushing your teeth? Me neither!
Drink more water and use caffeine. You may just be slightly dehydrated and your body is wanting water not food, aim for a minimum of 2 litres a day. Green teas and coffee (splash of milk and NO SUGAR) are a fantastic way to beat cravings as caffeine is a hunger beater.
Ultimately you are an adult and you can succumb to cravings and hate your body shape – or you use the above proven tips, beat the cravings and LOVE how you LOOK & FEEL.
