You try a pair of shorts on.
They’re a bit tighter than you remember.
You catch yourself in a photo and do that lovely little British thing where you pretend you don’t care, then think about it for three days.
You’ve got a holiday coming up.
A few meals out.
A BBQ.
Maybe a wedding.
Maybe the kids are off soon.
So the brain does what the brain does.
“I’ll start in September.”
Sounds sensible.
Very adult.
Very organised.
Also, usually nonsense.
Because September comes round, and most people haven’t maintained.
They’ve drifted.
They’ve had eight to twelve more weeks of guessing, picking, snacking, skipping sessions, and saying they’ll sort it soon.
Then September starts from an even harder place.
That’s the bit people don’t think about.
Waiting feels easy now, but it usually costs you later.
And this is where the 12 week shoot comes in.
It gives you a line in the sand.
Not a punishment.
Not a panic diet.
Not some daft challenge where you eat lettuce and pretend you’re fine.
A proper plan.
Your head coach gives you calories.
You train.
You walk.
You keep protein high.
You check in.
You adjust when needed.
You get support when real life gets messy.
Simple.
Not easy every day, but simple.
And that’s what most people need.
Because the problem usually isn’t that you don’t care.
You do care.
That’s why it annoys you.
The problem is you keep waiting for a clean run.
A quieter month.
A better time.
A week with no meals out.
A summer with no holidays.
A life with no interruptions.
Good luck with that.
You’ll be waiting until you’re about 94.
There is never a perfect time to start.
There’s just now, with whatever you’ve got coming up, and a choice.
You can drift through the next 12 weeks and hope things somehow improve.
Or you can give the shoot a proper go and see what happens when you actually follow a plan.
And if you’ve got a holiday in the middle, speak to your head coach.
We can work around it.
You might not have the perfect 12 week run.
Fine.
Most people won’t.
But 10 strong weeks with a sensible holiday in the middle beats 12 weeks of doing nothing because you were waiting for life to behave.
The shoot is there to help you get out of your own head.
It gives you structure.
It gives you a goal.
It gives you support.
It gives you a reason to stop saying “soon” and actually start.
And no, you don’t have to be perfect.
But you do have to take it seriously.
That means hitting your sessions.
Tracking food and calories properly.
Not pretending the weekend doesn’t count.
Not guessing your way through it and hoping your body is kind.
Your body is not being mean.
It’s just keeping score.
So if you’ve been thinking, “I’ve probably missed my chance now,” you haven’t.
You can still make a big change over summer.
You can still feel better in your clothes.
You can still get leaner each week.
You can still finish the next 12 weeks in far better shape than you are now.
But only if you start.
The 12 week shoot starts next Saturday.
Speak to your head coach or trainer if you’re tempted.
Don’t write summer off yet.
