Frequent runner Fran got abs by running less and introduced strength training into her routine!
This is the story of Fran Ross.
Before coming to THQ, Fran ran a lot, tried different classes and spent too much time in gyms seeing no body shape results.
This was making Fran feel a little frustrated as she was putting in so much effort but seeing very little in return. So thought she had to eat less and run more!
But still she saw no change in the her body shape and thought “ What am I doing wrong”?
As a keen runner, when she came to THQ, she was understandably skeptical as we were all about strength training and getting stronger – she didn’t want to get bulky! But she had seen the results we were churning out so she thought let’s just give it a whirl.
But once she completed the 6 week meltdown she saw some changes…
- She was losing inches
- Feeling more energetic
- And looked a lot more toned and defined
She now felt that she was finally heading in the right direction and it was strength training that was the missing link all along! She loved these results so enrolled on to the 12 week shoot to intensify results as you can see…..Fran looks in stunning shape!
What’s more, she did all of this without having to run more and eat less….but run LESS and eat MORE!

Why did you first start at THQ?
I initially started at THQ to get stronger for my running which I really love! I wanted to get stronger to increase my speed and prevent injury.
What made you start the 12 week shoot?
To give me a real focus for my initial goals. I also wanted to refocus on my diet, and although I didn’t feel I needed to lose weight I wanted to make sure I was fuelling my body adequately.
Have you achieved your body shape goal? What exactly have you achieved?
I have achieved my body shape goal! Although I now have to add that having reached that goal I want to continue to become stronger and stronger (that’s my next goal!)
My whole body is significantly more toned than prior to the shoot – even in places that I hadn’t thought about toning! I feel stronger and more energised both in and out of the gym. My running has improved dramatically…both in terms of speed and endurance. I naturally had to cut my running down to fit around my gym sessions and I was initially worried that my running would suffer, but on the contrary, I’m faster than ever. Plus those unforgiving Buxton hills are much easier now thanks to THQ and my stronger legs!
How do you feel about your achievement?
I’m really thrilled about this achievement! If you put the work in the rewards will come…
What have you most enjoyed about at THQ?
The really lovely team atmosphere. I was really nervous about strength training because I’m not a naturally strong person, and I thought I might feel intimidated. I shouldn’t have worried – the support received from both trainers and other members is truly amazing! There is no competitiveness between members but equally you are encouraged to push yourself by the trainers.
What would you say to anyone thinking about starting at THQ?
Do it! It’s one of the best things I have ever done. THQ was a means to an end in the beginning for me – simply to help with my running. Now it’s an end in itself – I love my increased strength and the body shape training at THQ has given me! I’ve trained at different gyms for years but until now I’ve never got these results. Now I’m hooked and wouldn’t go anywhere else! Thanks so much THQ!
