It took a health scare to make Karen change her lifestyle
Karen admitted that it took a short time in hospital to make a change with her lifestyle.
She was shocked into the realisation that it was the way she was treating her body, was the reason she had become ill.
This was all the motivation needed to make a change.
She took the plunge and sought help from THQ.
The results have been life changing for Karen.
It was a very brave decision for Karen to join THQ, as she was often overwhelmed with even the thought of going to a gym.
Believing she would be the one stood there not sure what to be doing, or the person who kept messing up and doing things incorrectly.
At THQ, we do things a little differently.
You will never be on your own and will always be guided through a session.
It took just a couple of weeks for the THQ trainers to show Karen how to train effectively.
She soon became accustomed to the exercises and noticed she was getting better at them.
Karen now understood why people loved going to the gym – and she wanted more of this feeling.
She took an even bigger plunge and went for the 12-week THQ photo shoot to really give herself a challenge.
The results were jaw dropping, we know she will improve even further as she now has the knowledge and skills to stay in shape for the rest of her life.

Why did you first start at THQ?
Since turning 40 I have been a failed dieter and my weight had not been stable for a few years, with each failed diet I put on more weight and became less motivated until the task was too overwhelming and then I turned to food as a comfort, this became the norm and a cycle of generally eating, drinking and laughing off the results. The truth is I was not happy with how I looked or felt. I started well in 2019 and lost a stone, this gave me some hope, but it was short lived when I became ill, had a few months of scary hospital stays and eventual surgery with a diseased gallbladder. The upside was I had lost more weight as my diet was very restricted while waiting for surgery. The realisation that my diet and lifestyle had contributed to my illness was shocking, I felt disgusted with myself and vowed to never put my health at risk again. So as soon a I was fit enough I joined THQ, some friends had joined earlier in the year and they had had great results. I was scared as my experience of gyms had been bad ones, like a lot of people I never progressed at a gym because I never really engaged with fitness or felt like I was a worthy member. I was always the red faced one who fell over or could not work the machines properly!! THQ was different, from the initial meeting out trainers were welcoming, and I felt comfortable to give it a go. Within a few sessions I felt like the exercises were familiar and I understood how my body was working. The diet was clear and easy to follow, and the results soon began to show, with that came the confidence to push myself knowing that each session was making a difference.
What made you start the 12 week shoot?
Initially the thought of taking part in the 12-week shoot was scary! Not the exercise or the diet but having my before/after photos on display. I did not think that my efforts would be worthy enough. However, after 5 months I decided that I would and indeed it was a challenge, physically with the exercise demands, mentally with the constant challenge, and the diet was very focused. BUT I did it all the way to the end and was so proud that I could not wait for the photoshoot! The result was beyond what I thought possible and well worth the effort.
Have you achieved your body shape goal? What exactly have you achieved?
I did not set a goal at first, but now I know what is possible I can say that I have not yet reached my goal but I know that I will get there and it is way beyond what I ever thought was possible!
What exactly have you achieved?
I am lighter than I have been for years, with toned muscles and a strength that I never knew I had. Mentally and physically I am in the best shape of my life!

I feel more confident, and stronger in every aspect physically and mentally. A real sense of personal achievement which has also stretched my goals for the future with regard to what I could achieve.
What have you most enjoyed about at THQ?
Without doubt the support and friendship at THQ is unique, I have met like minded people, we are all on an incredible journey together. This is motivating but with the support and expertise of our fantastic trainers who provide constant challenge and education on exercise and diet, it is a winning combination. THQ is a family weather physically in the gym or online, support is always there!
What would you say to anyone thinking about starting at THQ?
I would say be brave, walk through the door and start the journey to discover your own potential. My only regret is that I did not do this sooner.
