Alex was in good condition when first coming to see us. She had been lifting previously and understood how beneficial weight training is to looking and feeling great.
Alex had come from a paleo background of eating plenty of protein, vegetables with high fats and low carbs. This worked well for her initially but then hit a frustrating plateau. Once viewing food logs, we could see that the paleo diet was too high in fat and causing a slight calories surplus.
We got Alex to start tracking calories and halved her fat intake to 60 grams a day. We increased carbohydrates to fuel her workouts and increase that metabolism.
The lesson to learn from Alex is the importance of assessing – not guessing. Alex is now currently tracking foods and looking to get stronger and fitter whilst getting leaner.
