Transformation HQ Success Story

He Was “Not a Gym Person”. He Still Lost 64 Pounds!

Ben did not fail before because he was lazy.

He failed because everything he tried relied on short bursts of motivation instead of something he could actually live with.

“My main issue really was committing to something that was sustainable. I would always be healthy for a month, then drop off and repeat that cycle but never actually get to where I wanted to be physically, health and fitness wise.”

That cycle went on for years.

Each time, the scale moved a bit, but the deeper problems stayed.

“I tried running, cycling and playing football over the years. Whilst it helps short-term to lose weight, it doesn’t help with strength or overall muscle growth.”

Strength was the missing piece.

The aches stayed.

The confidence never really came.

And there was another problem Ben was honest about.

“I have never been a gym goer.”

That mattered.

Because most solutions out there assume you already feel comfortable in a gym, know how to use equipment, and won’t get injured pushing too hard.

“My main worry was around my overall fitness and being able to do it three times a week without injuring myself, as well as being able to use the kit and equipment and the various exercises. I am not a gym person so that was quite a worry.”

Add in a demanding business and a young family, and the excuses write themselves.

No time.

No energy.

Too complicated.

Too risky.

When Ben joined Transformation HQ in summer 2023, he was nearly 19 stone, the heaviest he had ever been.

That is around 252 pounds.

He did not come in chasing perfection.

He just wanted something that would not collapse the next time life got busy.

He started with the 6 Week Meltdown.

A short, focused phase designed to build consistency, not break people.

No long contract pressure.

No extreme rules.

Just structure.

The first change was not dramatic fat loss.

It was reliability.

Three sessions a week that were booked, coached, and scaled properly.

No guessing.

No random workouts.

“I am much stronger, and generally feel better physically. Less knee pain, back pain etc, which is probably down to getting stronger and supporting my body more.”

That mattered more than the scale early on.

Training stopped hurting him and started helping him.

And strength crept up in ways he did not expect.

“As sad as it may be, I am genuinely surprised how much stronger I am now compared to when I joined. I remember my first session doing dumbbell chest press with 8kg and now I’m up to 27.5kg.”

It was not just one lift.

“It’s the same for a lot of the other exercises. I couldn’t do two press ups, let alone doing them for 50 seconds. I’m really pleased with that progress. I think it’s cool anyway.”

Over the first year, without being extreme, Ben dropped about two stone.

Around 28 pounds.

Promising, but more importantly, repeatable.

Then life tested him again.

After their second baby arrived, his weight climbed back up towards 18 stone by the end of 2024.

Roughly 252 pounds again.

This is where most people quit and tell themselves it is just how things are now.

Ben did not.

“After having our second baby I got up to 18 stone again towards the end of 2024 and knew I had to change now I had two kids.”

This time, he tightened things up and committed to the next phase.

He moved onto the 12 Week Shoot when he felt ready.

Same gym.

Same trainers.

Same structure.

Just a clearer goal.

“I literally restricted myself to 1500 calories or so every day, got myself on three sessions a week and then aimed to do the summer shoot as I had no holidays etc.”

He removed friction where he could.

“Paying for meal prep was a winner for me, knowing I had five lunches a week which were hitting my macros and calories.”

By the end of the shoot in early 2025, the result shocked even him.

“So from bang on 18 stone in January 2025, I finished the shoot at 13 stone 6 pounds, which is the lightest I have been probably in 24 years, which is insane.”

That is roughly a 64 pound loss.

Over 4 and a half stone.

And it was not a crash and burn result.

“I still love a beer or a glass of wine and a takeaway like most people, but the biggest change is doing it in moderation and mixing that with consistency in going to three sessions a week or more.”

The weight stayed off.

Strength kept building.

Pain stayed down.

The deeper win was personal.

“I wanted to get healthier and fitter for my kids as they grow up. I didn’t want them to think it’s OK to be overweight, unhealthy and lazy, and I feel I have achieved that and can keep it up now.”

Ben’s advice is not motivational fluff.

It is practical.

“Find your reason for doing it and keep reminding yourself of that when it gets a bit harder, or you need to change things up, or have a plateau, or even go on holiday and feel guilty for indulging.”

He also removed the most common excuse.

“Book your sessions as far in advance as possible. It makes you go.”

And for anyone worrying about gyms, judgement, or not fitting in.

“The smaller sessions are much nicer. It doesn’t have a gym feel and works for anyone at any level in my opinion.”

Ben is clear when we ask him what he would say to anyone thinking of starting with Transformation HQ.

“Don’t hesitate. Great trainers, loads of exercise variation and the community of people is great too.”

If you are reading this and you have tried diets, gyms, classes, or even personal training three times a week that costs more and still leaves you guessing, Ben’s story should sting a little.

Not with shame.

With realisation.

Because the difference was not willpower.

It was structure that survived busy weeks, tired days, and family life.

Ben lost around 64 pounds.

He got stronger.

He reduced pain.

And he built something he can keep.

If you are in the same place Ben was, telling yourself you will sort it soon, you probably already know the truth.

You will wish you had started sooner.
