You might have noticed your inbox was a bit quieter from me last week or so—I took a much-needed holiday.
I spent a week in Montenegro, leaving behind my laptop, emails, and the daily hustle at Transformation HQ.
It was my first real break in over six months, and let me tell you, it felt strange but incredibly refreshing.
Lounging on a sun-soaked beach in Montenegro, with waves crashing in the background and absolutely nothing on my agenda.
Usually, I work for an hour in the morning and evening when I’m away, but this time I couldn’t.
The Wi-Fi was awful, and the data just wouldn’t work, no matter which package I upgraded to.
It was a (forced) chance to truly unplug and recharge, something I hadn’t done in a long time.
But here’s the thing—returning to my routine wasn’t as easy as I thought.
After a week of doing nothing, I found myself procrastinating over tasks I usually breeze through.
It felt like trying to start an old car that hadn’t been driven in years.
The momentum I had built over months had vanished, and getting back into the groove was more challenging than I anticipated.
If you’ve ever taken a break from the gym, you’ll know what I mean.
You might tell yourself you need the perfect conditions—a clear schedule, the right mindset, or even the best workout playlist.
Here’s the truth: waiting for perfect conditions is just procrastination.
Since returning from my holiday, I have realised something important.
There’s never a perfect time to start anything, whether getting back to writing or hitting the gym.
We often wait for the ‘right’ moment, but that moment rarely comes.
Life gets in the way, and before you know it, days turn into weeks, and weeks turn into months.
So, what’s the secret to getting back on track?
It’s simpler than you think.
And deep down you know it.
But hearing it sometimes is all that you need.
Instead of spending time getting in the mood to work out, just start.
Lace-up your trainers and head to the gym, go for that walk or set up that home workout area.
The act of starting creates its own momentum.
Think about it: when I finally stopped overthinking and just began typing, the words started to flow, and tasks started getting completed.
It wasn’t perfect at first, but I got into the rhythm.
The same goes for your workouts.
Don’t wait for the stars to align.
Start with what you have and where you are.
On my first day back from my holiday, I applied this mindset.
There were 5 mins of procrastination, and then I shook out of it.
I didn’t wait until I felt completely ready or until I had the perfect topic.
I just sat down and started writing, emailing accountants, booking meetings, and cracking on with THQ tasks.
The key was simply beginning.
Same for staying motivated to train.
Have you been putting off your workouts, waiting for the perfect time?
Maybe you’re waiting for Monday, for the weather to be just right, or until you feel completely motivated.
Here’s a little secret: starting is the perfect condition.
Whether it’s a quick 10-minute workout or a full session, just start.
Once you do, everything else will fall into place.
Remember, the hardest part is often taking that first step.
But once you start, you’ll create your own momentum.
So, don’t wait for the perfect moment.
Make today your day one.
Pop on those trainers, roll out that mat, or just get moving.
Your future self will thank you.
Take it from someone who’s been there recently—the first step is the hardest, but also the most important.
No more excuses.
Let’s get moving today.
If I can bounce back after a week of sun and sand, you can certainly get back on track with your fitness routine.
Until next time, keep pushing forward and remember—there’s no perfect time to start, so start now.
