My laptop died on Wednesday.
No warning.
No error message.
Just silence.
Which meant no work, no check-ins, no Friday email.
Not ideal when you run your whole business from one screen.
Luckily, we had some filming to do on Thursday, so I wasn’t totally useless.
But let’s be honest, without my Mac, I may as well have been holding a clipboard pretending to look important.
After trying three plugs, two chargers, and even borrowing Carl’s just in case mine had randomly combusted… nothing.
Friday rolled round and I gave in: Apple Store, Trafford Centre, Easter weekend.
Awful decision.
Screaming kids, queues everywhere, and a technician who looked like he’d rather be anywhere else.
He plugged it in, ran a few tests, then passed it off to the tech team.
Eventually, I got an answer:
“Battery’s almost done. Could be time to replace it. You’ve probably been charging it overnight too much, or hammering it while it’s plugged in. That’s what kills them.”
And weirdly, that hit.
Because we treat our bodies the exact same way.
Always on.
Always pushing.
Never really letting the battery recharge.
You can eat well.
Train hard.
Tick every box on paper.
But if you never unplug, if you’re always wired, stressed, tired, scrolling…you’re draining your system while trying to charge it.
And it stops working.
That’s when you feel like you’re doing everything right… and still not seeing results.
So here’s the system we can use to actually get in shape and stay there, without burning out:
Lift weights 3–4 times a week.
Not six days a week.
Not two hours a session.
Train hard, but give your body time to grow. Stress + rest = results.
Eat 3 high-protein meals a day.
Big enough to kill hunger.
Structured enough to stop grazing.
For breakfast, lunch, and dinner, there is no need to snack your way through the day.
Walk 8,000–10,000 steps a day.
No, it’s not glamorous.
But it works.
It keeps you lean, clears your head, and doesn’t wreck your joints.
Drink 2–3 litres of water.
If you’re tired all the time, this is the fix most people overlook.
Hydrated people train better, recover faster, and feel sharper.
Sleep 7–9 hours every night.
Not with your phone in your face.
Not in bed replying to work messages.
Sleep is where your body repairs.
It’s where fat loss actually happens.
You don’t need another brutal workout plan.
You don’t need to “be good” all the time.
You just need to stop charging while you’re frying the system.
That’s what I did to my Mac.
And it nearly cost me a full week of work.
So here’s your reminder:
If your results feel stuck, your energy’s flat, and motivation’s up and down, it’s probably not your fault.
You’re just drained.
Try the plan above for the next 7 days.
See what happens when you finally treat your body like it’s built to last, not just built to work.
And if you’re already doing most of it, but feel like it’s still not working…
There’s probably one thing off.
Just like my charging port.
But once it’s fixed?
Everything starts working again.
You train better.
You sleep deeper.
You feel lighter.
And your body starts actually responding.
You stop guessing.
You stop drifting.
And you finally move forward.
