Saw a funny clip yesterday.
Bloke dressed as Big Ben at the London Marathon.
Poor lad couldn’t even get under the finish line.
Stuck.
Flapping about like a fish while everyone just ran past him without a second look.
Made me laugh.
Proper British spirit: “Tough luck, mate.”
Fair play though.
Good to see so many raising money for charity.
Always worth applauding that.
Hats off to them.
But running a marathon?
It’s not everyone’s idea of a good time.
It’s not even necessary if you just want to lose a bit of fat, feel fitter, have more energy, and actually look like you train.
That’s what I want to talk about today.
Because while thousands were smashing through 26 miles yesterday, most of us are just trying to get through the week without feeling like a sack of potatoes.
You want to feel lighter?
You want to look better in a T-shirt?
You want to have a bit more spring in your step?
You don’t need to become Mo Farah overnight.
You don’t need to punish yourself with endless runs.
You don’t need to enter some massive event just to “stay accountable.”
You need to get really, really boringly consistent.
Lift weights a few times a week.
Get your steps in every day.
Eat enough proper food. (Not rabbit food. Not whatever “magic” diet is floating around Instagram this week.)
It’s not glamorous.
It’s not flashy.
It just works.
And if you start now, while the weather’s on your side, you’re laughing.
Longer days.
More energy.
You’re not stuck inside like it’s December.
Perfect time to actually build momentum.
Imagine this: End of June.
It’s warm.
You’ve dropped a bit of timber.
Your T-shirts fit better.
Your mates are asking if you’ve been “doing something.”
You feel good getting out and about.
You’re not dragging your heels every time you climb the stairs.
All because you didn’t wait around for some big dramatic “kickstart.”
You just cracked on.
And here’s a better way to think about it.
Forget racing other people. Forget racing the clock.
Your only competition?
The old you.
You vs You.
The goal isn’t to finish some giant race.
It’s to wake up feeling a little bit better every week.
A little bit fitter.
A little bit stronger.
A little bit sharper upstairs too.
That’s the real win.
No crowds.
No medals.
No pat on the back every time you show up at the gym or get a walk in.
Just you, stacking quiet victories.
Getting a tiny bit stronger.
A tiny bit fitter.
A tiny bit sharper.
Stack those days up?
Changes everything.
You don’t have to do something massive and public to change your life.
You just need to do the small stuff.
The boring stuff.
And do it way better than most people are willing to.
That’s how you drop fat.
That’s how you get more energy.
That’s how you start seeing tone & definition.
And the bonus?
You actually enjoy the process.
You’re not grinding yourself into dust.
You’re building yourself up.
Day by day.
Smoother. Smarter. Stronger.
While everyone else is crawling over the floor dressed as Big Ben.
Start simple.
Start now.
Keep it moving.
Your race.
Your pace.
No crowds, no medals.
Just you putting the work in quietly.
And trust me, that beats crawling over a finish line dressed as Big Ben any day of the week.
Let’s go.
Ryan.
